Aljamain Sterling is back to his roots and it wouldn’t go unnoticed.
The UFC Bantamweight Champion returned to his hometown of Uniondale, New York for a celebration like no other. With the support of Nassau County, Sterling would get a homecoming rally thrown in his honor.
Sterling Speaks On His Homecoming
‘Aljamain Sterling Day’ saw ‘The Funkmaster’ live it up with a motorcade and speeches given about his accomplishments. Following the parade, Sterling would detail what all of this meant to him.
“It still feels like a dream,” Sterling told MMA Island. “I felt like a champ for a very long time and to have it all come into fruition like this… To have this, the elementary school kids, the kids at the high school, it’s a dream come true. I’m truly blessed to be in a position like this.
“I hope to inspire many more kids to follow their dreams. Just go out there and chase your dreams and don’t let anybody tell you, you can’t do something.”
Sterling last defeated Petr Yan at UFC 273. Coming off the biggest win of his career, many are wondering what is next for Aljamain Sterling. Well, unfortunately for us, he is still keeping us in the dark regarding his return.
“That’s still a secret,” Sterling said of his next fight. “I’m just hanging out and enjoying life right now.”
