This upcoming Friday will see Michael ‘Venom’ Page (19-1 headline BELLATOR 267 against rival and former welterweight-champion Douglas Lima (32-9) at the SSE Arena, Wembley.

The two highly-touted welterweights fought back in May of 2019, where a then undefeated Page challenged Lima in the semi-finals of the BELLATOR welterweight world grand prix. Unfortunately for MVP, the bout only lasted 2 rounds – wherein he found little real success in either of them. A thunderous leg kick from Lima in the 2nd was able to knock MVP completely off balance and when he arose, he was greeted with a perfectly-timed right uppercut that floored him – leading to a KO victory over the Englishman.

Coming into the rematch Page is riding a 5-fight win-streak – with the most notable victories coming over former Cage Warriors champion Ross Houston and BELLATOR veteran Derek Anderson. Perhaps even more impressively, 4/5 of these wins were won by KO/TKO within the first 2 rounds. A win here against Lima would almost certainly line him up for a title-shot against the recently crowned champion, Yaroslav Amosov.

On the flip side of the coin, Lima comes into the rematch on a 2 fight losing streak. In October of last year, Lima moved up to middleweight to challenge Gegard Mousasi for the vacant middleweight belt. The then welterweight champion fell short however, losing to the veteran Mousasi by unanimous decision. Looking to bounce back from this loss Lima went back down to welterweight to defend his belt against Yaroslav Amosov. The undefeated Ukrainian grappler ended up dominating Lima, taking him down numerous times over the course of 25 minutes – smothering his way to victory. Beating Page once again would not only propel him towards a rematch against Amosov and a chance to recapture his title, but also eliminate any potential talk of a trilogy fight with Page in the future.

This time around MVP will possess the hometown advantage of fighting in London, in front of a large crowd at that. Being the showman he is, this may do wonders for the illustrious knockout artist – providing him with the necessary spirit and energy he needs to right the only man who has wronged him so far in his career.

With so much on the line for both men, this pair of prolific strikers should undoubtedly deliver this coming Friday
