UFC and Ultimate Fighter veteran Diego ‘The Nightmare’ Sanchez has received his marching orders after being cut by the UFC.
Sanchez who is a 16-year UFC veteran got the boot shortly after posting videos on his Instagram page that shows an argument between Sanchez’s head coach Joshua Fabia and the UFC broadcast production team including Jon Anik, Megan Olivi, and Paul Felder.
The incident in the video shows Fabia accusing the broadcast team of bad-mouthing him and Sanchez and that if the broadcast team wants to know anything about Sanchez they need to go through him. A bemused Paul Felder chimes back stating that he has no clue what Fabia is talking about and that everyone gets grief from social media.

The UFC is said to have been concerned for a while now about the behavior of Joshua Fabia, who recently was caught on video running around the octagon with a knife. In another incident Fabia, which almost saw Sanchez’s fight with Michael Chiesa canceled as a result, Fabia told an NAC inspector that he and Sanchez had been working on a choke so brutal, that if applied the fight “should be waved off immediately” as to prevent death or paralysis.
When asked about the choke Fabia stated that the choke would start as a standing guillotine but then would see Sanchez rotate his shoulders so that his opponent’s head was braced above his shoulder before slamming into the floor and breaking his opponents neck. When shown it is not too dissimilar to a “Stone Cold Stunner”.
Nevada officials concerned about the revelation then held discussions with UFC officials, expressing concerns for Chiesa’s health and safety, however, fortunately, officials decided that the likelihood of Sanchez executing some type of unknown fatal submission was doubtful. NAC had to speak to Sanchez and Fabia to discuss sportsmanship, and the need to recognise that the bout was a sporting contest and not a deathmatch.
Although Diego Sanchez has been cleared by medics for a scheduled fight against Donald Cerrone, Fabia would not confirm to the UFC if Sanchez was suffering from short-term or long-term medical issues.
According to several reports, Fabia had asked the UFCs medical coordinators for Sanchez’s media records, this, in turn, brought the attention of the UFC’s business officer Hunter Campbell. Campbell had contacted both Fabia and Sanchez and during this conversation, Fabia suggested that there may be short-term and long-term medical issues with Sanchez.
UFC President Dana White told the press that the UFC could not put a fighter into a fight if the fighter would not reveal if they were fit to fight or not. Dana also went off on Fabia and said the following.
I have an incredible, amazing relationship with Diego and I like him very much and I hope he is ok. One of the things that happen, not just in fighting but in sports, and I want you to quote me on this, are these creepy weirdos who come from God know where and leech onto fighters or athletes. They never do any good for them.
Somehow, this creep got into Diego’s life and has been controlling him. You saw the video of him chasing guys in the Octagon with a knife. How ****** nuts is that? He goes to the commission and tells them that he’s taught Diego this death touch. It goes on and on with these guys. He goes into the production meeting and tells the commentators what they should be saying? He worked his way into Diego’s life and has gotten control over him. I just want the best for Diego.”Dana White to Yahoo! Sports
Several coaches and fighters have reached out to Sanchez including Rashard Evans who commented on the Instagram video “Damn Diego… you need to get Josh Fabia out of your life. He is extremely toxic. It’s unbelievable his ego is this fragile. He shows ZERO self-awareness. Self-awareness would’ve had him understanding how stupid he sounded. GET RID OF THIS SUMABITCH.”
