In one of the biggest MMA signings of 2020, the Professional Fighters League promotion has captured their ‘Heavyweight GOAT’ in Fabricio Werdum by adding him to their 2021 roster.

It hasn’t been long since the former UFC champion stepped inside the cage. He welcomed Alexander Gustafsson to the heavyweight division with a first-round submission victory via armbar. The sequel Fight Island showing for Werdum was the last fight on his UFC contract.

After 2 stints in the UFC, 18 fights and a championship in the world’s leading MMA promotion, ‘Vai Cavalo’ looks to turn a new leaf inside PFL and perhaps another 1 million dollar prize could be held in a heavyweight tournament setting.

Fabricio Werdum, although at age 43, has no signs of slowing down next year. He looks to fight 4-5 times in the 2021 season and his eyes are now on being the best heavyweight fighter outside the UFC.

  1. While much had been made of Werdum potentially jumping to Bellator for a second fight with Fedor Emelianenko, the PFL shared the news on social media Monday.  The legendary grappler mentioned at the beginning of November that he was in negotiations with PFL, so while the signing is not the most shocking news, it s a welcome addition to the roster. The PFL is set to return to Las Vegas in April to launch their season of fights.
