Joaquin Buckley feels Kevin Holland has no respect and wants the rematch this year.
Buckley made his UFC debut against Holland at UFC Fight Night 174, in March, where he was defeated via 3rd round TKO.
New Mansa took the fight just 8 days after his TKO win over Jackie Gosh at LFA 87.
Since then, both have grown massively in popularity, with Buckley earning KO of the year in a spectacular spinning back kick finish over Impa Kasanganay, breaking the internet.
Trailblazer did it differently, winning 5/5 fights in 2020, stepping up in a huge way in the UFC pandemic era.
There has been a lot of back-and-forth between the two since their match-up and Buckley believes he can expose Holland’s weaknesses with a full camp.
“I respect him (Holland) as a fighter but he’s a scrub, he‘s a bitch, I don’t like anything about him.” Buckley told MMA Island: “So, at the end of the day as a fighter I respect him but Kevin Holland in general I do want to see him again and we will.
“That’s the cool part about it I don’t have fight up the ranks as much because I did this beautiful kick and it jumped me up some notches, I’ve got eyeballs on me now, so it is credible and profitable to make that fight happen again.
“And we don’t need no 8 days’ notice, we can prepare for it, we can have a nice camp, because he likes doing last minuet fights and this is why because that’s the only way he can, off his attributes he’s long, he’s an awkward fighter.”
Because of the position the middleweights are in now Buckley feels winning the rematch will mean a lot more.
“We just gonna keep doing what we doing and the time is gonna speak for itself and when we run into each other the stakes are gonna be so much higher and when I beat him it’s gonna be so much sweeter.”
When asked about how many fights he wanted in 2021 Buckley said: “I need four of them bad boys I need two vets and I need two contenders, that’s what I’m looking at. Kevin Holland would be one of those contenders.”
Buckley faces Alessio Di Chirico on the first card of the year at UFC ABC 1, January 16 and Holland will headline at the UFC Apex Centre with Derek Brunson, March 20.
