John Dodson and Cody Gibson will finally face off.

The two UFC alumni were originally scheduled to meet at XMMA 2 on July 30th 2021.

After finishing out his final UFC fight in August of 2020, Dodson was prepared to begin his new journey in XMMA. However, a horrific car accident just weeks out from the card would leave Dodson with injuries, forcing him to withdraw from the bout. According to the former world title challenger, the incident was a near death one, and had shaken him and his family.

Luckily, the original match up has been recently rebooked for October 23rd, now set for XMMA 3: Vice City in Miami. The fight will headline the card and be contested over three rounds above a stacked undercard including fellow ex-UFC stars Kyle Bochniak and Nate Marquardt.

Although fighting at Featherweight just two fights prior, Gibson has returned to Bantamweight with a fury. He most recently knocked out Louie Sanoudakis, who stepped in to replace Dodson at XMMA 2, and enters his October fight now riding even more momentum.

Dodson, who fought twice for the UFC flyweight belt in 2013 and 2015, most recently finished out his UFC career 1-1 in his last two, and looks to bounce back from his last loss against Merab Dvalishvili while stating his case amongst the XMMA ranks.

Cody Gibson seems to have acknowledged that Dodson is among the elite of his potential competition, but that beating the best is his route to becoming the best. Their fight on October 23rd will set in motion big stakes for both men inside the promotion.

Before the Bantamweights meet, the card will kick off with a number of exciting undercard fights. Canadian Louie Sanoudakis will take on Venezuelan Edir Terry on the prelims. Cauatã Samuel vs. Caio Uruguai will put a start to the main card, followed by Jose Caceres vs. Demarques Jackson.

Welterweights John Howard and Tyler Ray will fight before long time MMA legend Nate Marquardt once again makes the walk to the cage, this time against grappling star Valdir Araujo. However the final fight before the main event will see the always entertaining Kyle “Crash” Bochniak return, fresh off victories at both XMMA 1 and XMMA 2. He will be pitted against former Bellator and King of the Cage contender Derek Campos.

XMMA 3: Dodson vs Gibson, also coined Vice City, will take place at the Watsco Centre in Miami, Florida. The card will go live at 7:00PM EST and 4:00pm PST.   XMMA 3 Fight Card (subject to change): Nate Marquardt vs. Valdir Araujo
Tyler Ray vs. John Howard
Demarques Jackson vs. Jose Caceres
Caio Uruguai vs. Cauatã Samuel
Edir Terry vs. Louie Sanoudakis
