A light heavyweight matchup is on the horizon.
Top ranked contenders Ion Cutelaba and Ryan Spann will square off on February 26th. The fight is close to being finalized, multiple sources with knowledge of the matchup told MMA Island.
The fight will be on the same card as the title eliminator main event of Beneil Dariush vs Islam Makachev.
Cutelaba last fought in September where he picked up a unanimous decision win over a durable Devin Clark. The distance nod would be his first win since 2019. Besides Clark, ‘Hulk’ hasn’t smashed much in recent years. He is currently 1-2-1 in his last four fights. A win here could prove to be necessary to remain in the rankings or even in the UFC.
Ryan Spann last fought against Anthony Smith on the same night as Cutelaba. He lost via rear-naked choke in his first UFC main event. ‘Superman’ looks to move past his kryptonite and get back in the win column.
With contracts signed, Spann and Cutelaba will look to deliver some fireworks on February 26th.
