Tony Ferguson will not be facing Dustin Poirier this October as planned due to failed negations between Poirier and the UFC.
The bout between the two former interim champs was unfortunately scrapped after The Diamond was unable to come to financial terms with the UFC “I’m a prize fighter and the prize needs to be right” this was definitely a saddening moment for fight fans around the world.
Ferguson himself took to instagram and issued a message directly to Dana White and the UFC “Pay the man @danawhite @ufc Love ya’ll but let’s give the Hardcore & Casual fans what they deserve, a good fight Sir”
However all is not lost. at the fight night 177 post interviews when UFC president Dana White was asked about the fight he provided an insight on what would be done about the highly anticipated bout.
“We’re not even trying to salvage it we’re getting another fight. (another opponent for Ferguson)
White did not got into any details about why they couldn’t come to terms with Poirier or who would be next in line to face Ferguson.
For now we all sit and wait, eager to see who the UFC will put in front of El Cucuy.
