In a puzzling turn of events, a new Lightweight champion may be crowned at UFC 257 after leaked messages suggest that the bout will be for the undisputed title.
‘The Notorious’ Conor McGregor is set to face Dustin ‘The Diamond” Poirier for a second time at the main event of UFC 257, following his swift victory over Donald Cerrone nearly a year ago, whereas Poirier is coming off a grueling hard fought unanimous decision victory over Dan Hooker.
Khabib Nurmagomedov is the the current Lightweight champion despite announcing his retirement following his bout with Justin Gaethje at UFC 254.
However, the UFC DM chatbot has indicated that Khabib will either or vacate or be stripped of the title before the event, a fan had asked for the event info in which the bot replied: “Don’t miss Poirier take on McGregor for the lightweight title bout. Who do you think will walk out of the Octagon with the W?”
Now, this could either be a hint at a title fight for the gentlemen, or a simple typo mistake.
Title fight or not, this is a fight the whole world watching, can Dustin redeem himself after suffering a quick end to McGregor all those years ago? or will McGregor replicate his victory and place himself at the top of the division.
