The welterweight division is arguably one of the most stacked divisions in the UFC. The only problem right now? The only fighter in the top 15 with a fight is Robbie Lawler (which is a fight i would’ve made too against Mike Perry). Usman vs Burns fell through, Colby vs Jorge is in the works supposedly, Leon hasn’t fought since July 2019, the whole division has a lot of chaos happening, but nothing moving forward at the current moment. So let’s get all these top 15 ranked guys some action huh?

Starting with the champ, I mean you have to give Gilbert his shot right? Or did Colby just earn his rematch? Either way, if I’m Usman or Dana, i do not book a fight against Usman with anyone else besides the two with my pick being Burns.

With that being said, one reason i don’t give Colby the shot right now is because Colby and Jorge will sell. BIG. If I’m Dana i book the fight now without having the title shot money being added on to that fight. If I’m the fighters, (and the fans) i want this fight to settle this beef finally and get paid for it. Put the BMF title up and that alone makes the fight more valuable. Besides Usman, nothing makes more sense than Jorge for Colby & Colby for Jorge.

Leon Edwards vs Stephen Thompson IS THE FIGHT TO MAKE. For both fighters. Sign the contract fellas. Could you imagine that striking contest? Man. Idk why Chimaev is in talks with either of these two, or why Edwards wants a title shot when he is very inactive. It’s no disrespect to him but i mean come on, if you get past Thompson you prove you are willing to fight the best of the best and earn the shot and for Thompson this gets you one, only one step closer to the belt as well. 2 more wins for Thompson and he has the shot.

Tyron Woodley….. man, this one is a little tricky. One, he is healing from broken ribs at the moment. Two, he is just in a very bad situation right now. For a split second against Colby i thought we had the OG Tyron back, but it died just as fast as i thought it was here. Do you give him Nathan Diaz? Get Diaz back in action vs a former champ & get Tyron a challenge in his comeback fight? Maia rematch or RDA maybe? I don’t know, it’s a tough spot for Mr. Woodley.

Demian Maia vs Michael Chiesa is a fight i personally would love to see. The grappling exchanges would be amazing to watch! With the top all jumbled up right now, I say ranking wise, this fight makes perfect sense. It eliminates a title contender and creates a new person to throw at one or two of the losers from above matches.

I don’t know about you, but I’d love to see RDA vs. Vicente Luque. I feel like that would be a good brawl to watch and one that would see if Dos Anjos is still for real and if Luque is a legit title contender or not. Every time Vicente Luque steps into the octagon you know it’s going to be a fight of the night candidate. Rafael Dos Anjos is a vet and former champion in this sport & can more than likely be able to give Luque as good of a fight or better than Thompson did. RDA might be fighting Islam Makhachev at 155 instead tho.

Neil Magny is in talks with Chimaev for a fight (from what i see on Instagram) if the rumors are true but one i would love to see when healthy is Against Geoff Neal. It was booked in August but had to pull out due to a life threatening sepsis infection. Magny is long and is very technical with everything he does, while Neal is a very accurate and powerful striker. This fight would be a very fun one to watch and i wish it would’ve happened at first. Chimaev will be a good opponent for a lot of people but i still feel as if he should have to have a couple more fights before someone’s like Magny.

Nate Diaz, what a guy am i right? Mr. 209. You never know what kind of opponent Nate will get, Poirier? McGregor? Hooker? T Ferg? Khabib? I believe Nate Diaz and Dan Hooker fight next but if it’s at WW, then I’d say give him Woodley. Why not? The trilogy makes sense too, but McGregor is fighting Poirier. Ferguson wants title contention, Khabib… no. Hooker or Woodley for Nathan, you heard it here first!

Anthony Pettis, i REALLY wanted him to get Silva. Now? I’d say give him Niko Price, Santiago Ponzinibbio, Randy Brown? All three sound amazing to me. You could give him a LW, or since he was prepping for it a MW. I wouldn’t mind seeing how he performs there. Maybe a Kevin Holland after his next fight? Holland sounds like a good fight to make to me also.

Robbie Lawler is scheduled against Mike Perry. I really hope the Lawler we all know and love shows up and we have a freaking banger in hands! In the famous words of Mike Perry “Someone might die”. This is going to be a slugfest and i almost guarantee someone is going to sleep.

  My predictions:

C Kamaru Usman vs #2 Gilbert Burns

#1 Colby Covington vs #4 Jorge Masvidal

#3 Leon Edwards vs #5 Stephen Thompson

#6 Tyron Woodley time off or #13 Nate Diaz

#7 Demian Maia vs #8 Michael Chiesa

#9 Rafael Dos Anjos vs #11 Vicente Luque OR #12 (LW) Islam Makhachev

#10 Neil Magny vs #12 Geoff Neal

#14 Anthony Pettis vs NR Kevin Holland/Niko Price

#15 Robbie Lawler vs NR Mike Perry
