The #9 ranked lightweight in the UFC is Al Iaquinta. Al Iaquinta is 14-6-1 (9-5 in UFC) with 7 knockout, 1 submission & 6 decision victories. He is on a 2 fight Losing streak right now against Dan Hooker & Donald Cerrone but has notable W’s over: Kevin Lee x’s 2, Jorge Masvidal, Joe Lauzon & Diego Sanchez. Al is a purple belt in BJJ fighting out of Serra-Longo Fight Team. We haven’t seen Raging Al in a little over a year and i don’t know about you, but I’m eager to see him in there again!
#13 Gregor Gillespie is 13-1 (6-1 in UFC) with 6 knockout, 5 submission & 2 decision victories. Gillespie is coming off of a devastating knockout loss to Kevin Lee but has notable victories over: Yancy Medeiros, Vinc Pichel & Jordan Rinaldi. Gillespie is a blue belt in BJJ & former NCAA Division 1 wrestler fighting out of Long Island MMA. Gillespie vs Iaquinta would be a dog fight and/or a great grappling match to witness. Gillespie gets in the top 10 with a win in my eyes and Al starts his title run with a W. Big implications either way if this fight is made. Gillespie wrestled both Jordan Burroughs & Michael Chandler in College, beating Chandler and losing to Burroughs.
Michael Chandler is 21-5 (0-0 in UFC) with 9 knockout, 7 submission & 5 decision victories. Chandler is on a 2 fight win streak over: Benson Henderson & Sidney Outlaw with other notable wins over: Patricky Freire x’s 2, Eddie Alvarez, another W over Benson & Brent Primus. He is a great wrestler/grappler who was a NCAA Division 1 All American fighting out of Sanford MMA. Chandler is a 3x Bellator champion and has set multiple records in the organization, including: most stoppage wins, most title reigns & fights & is tied against rival Patricio for most wins.
#14 Drew Dober is 23-9-1 (9-5-1 in UFC) with 10 knockout, 6 submission & 7 decision victories. Dober is on a 3 fight Win streak over: Alexander Hernandez, Marco Polo Reyes & Nasrat Haqparast with other notable wins over: Scott Holtzman, Frank Camacho & Jon Tuck. Dober has been doing this a long time, being a 2 time amateur Muay Thai champion. He is a blue belt in BJJ fighting out of Elevation Fight Team as well.
Another interesting fight would be Paul Felder, but i don’t know how interested he is in coming back against a non top 5 opponent. Comment below and talk about who you would like to see Ragin Al share the cage with next!
