The highly anticipated rematch between “The Notorious” Conor McGregor and Dustin “Diamond” Poirier is upon us. A rematch six years in the making between two men who have matured from young, up and coming talent, to battle-tested husbands, fathers, businessmen, and legends.
While the odds makers have the fight in McGregor’s favor, it’s Poirier who will benefit from UFC 257, regardless of result.
Dustin and his Wife, Jolie Poirier, created and manage a non-profit organization called The Good Fight Foundation. Based in Lafayette, Louisiana, the foundation was created to help underserved communities from food insecurity, health care, and environmental disaster relief.
Dustin has raffled off fight kits, (trunks, gloves, shirts, hand wraps), in order to raise money for the foundation. The money raised from Dustin’s UFC 211 fight kit alone provided 3,000 meals for their local second harvest food bank.
The foundation has also gone on to help benefit the family of fallen police officer Michael Middlebrook, the local Acadian Middle School, and also helped with a playground for disabled children.
Poirier, and his heart, are what attract many people to him. Even the rivals of old take notice and appreciate the work that is being done by Dustin and Jolie.
McGregor, who has a tremendous amount of respect for Poirier, has also taken notice and has pledged a whopping half a million dollars to The Good Fight Foundation in the lead up to this rematch.
Poirier, who has been in some of the greatest fights the UFC has ever seen is also set to make a purse that will undoubtedly be the biggest of his career.
So, regardless of the UFC 257 main event outcome, Poirier and The Good Fight Foundation have already won.
