November 19, 2019. Unanimous decision over Calvin Kattar. This was the last time Zabit Magomedsharipov stepped into the Octagon. One fight cancellation and 420 days later, the Russian standout has still not been booked to fight.

Zabit was booked to face Yair Rodriguez for the second time for a scheduled August 29 date in 2020. However, “El Pantera” pulled out to due to an ankle injury leaving Zabit once again without an opponent. Being without a dance partner, Magomedsharipov would sit out for the rest of 2020, anticipating a matchup with featherweight champ, Alexander Volkanovski.

That fight would never come into fruition despite a campaign of social media posts.

With Zabit spending 2020 on the bench, Dana White revealed his plans for the rising prospect in an interview with Brett Okamato earlier this week.

“Yeah, we’re looking at (Zabit) in the next three months.” said White. “Get him something.”

When asked about booking him against Yair Rodriguez again, White didn’t have his money that the third time would be the charm.

“I don’t know. We might move on from that one.”

Whoever the opponent may be, Dana White has high expectations that Zabit Magomedsharipov will make his long-awaited return back to the UFC Featherweight division.
