Brave CF fighter Muhammad Mokaev, a young prospect who many believe could become MMAs next big star, has had quite the battle recently.
Mokaev, who was born in Dagestan but moved to the UK as a 12-year-old refugee, married his wife Khava Eldarbekova in September of last year. The couple has been staying in Bahrain where Mokaev now trains.
The young couple had initially made plans to visit Mokaev’s father in the UK, but the Home Office declined to issue Khava a visa on two occasions. The Home Office state that the reason for the refusal was because of the amount of money in Khava’s bank account, which lead them to believe she has plans to overstay her welcome.
Now it seems, however, that after some social media appeals to both the Home Office and the Home Secretary Priti Patel herself, Khava has finally been granted a visa to enter the UK. Speaking on the initial refusal Mokaev said
My dad is 66, he is old and I want him to see my wife so he can be proud. There is nothing illegal going on, I’ve been in this country for 9 years and have never done anything illegal, they’re basically saying she can’t come to visit because she has too much money in her bank account.
20-year-old Mokaev who is a British wrestling champion became the IMMAF Champion in 2020 to round out his stellar amateur career which saw him going to 22-0, as well as winning the IMMAF Championship at Bantamweight, he also won titles with Caged Steel, WCFC, 2019 & 2018 IMMAF Junior Championships, UKFC Champion and Tanko FC.
Muhammad is currently 5-0 as a professional fighter and has the support of Prince Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad al-Khalifa of Bahrain. In an interview with BBC Sport Mokaev stated that he wants to become the youngest UFC champion ever and this is a feat he could easily accomplish.
