Charles Rosa is more than serious about taking on Brendan Loughnane.

The 13-fight UFC veteran recently challenged the new PFL Featherweight Champion to a high-stakes fight, following his TKO win over Bubba Jenkins. Since the initial call-out, there’s been a whole lot of back-and-forth between Rosa and Loughnane with both men wanting to put their money where their mouth is.

Rosa may have started his pursuit of Loughnane on social media, but it doesn’t end there. The featherweight fighter tells MMA Island he’s now in talks with the PFL to potentially join next year’s $1M featherweight tournament. ‘Boston Strong’ says he will be granted his UFC release upon request.

“I have 2 fights on my current contract but had positive insightful conversations with UFC chief Hunter Cambell,” Rosa told MMA Island. “He gave me the green light to have the opportunity to become a world champion in another organization, promising he would sign my UFC release WHEN I have opportunity to do so.

“He enjoys watching my fights and really wants the best for me as a fighter.. [Cambell] said he “appreciates the manner in which I have conducted myself in the organization.’ At this point in my career I need the biggest fights for the most money.”

Money talks and Rosa is definitely listening. The UFC featherweight caught wind of Brendan Loughnane’s million-dollar moment at the PFL Championships last month and Rosa wants a piece of both the champ and the cash that comes with winning the featherweight tournament.

“I saw Loughnane win the million and thought I can beat this guy,” Rosa said of what sparked his interest in the PFL. “I have beat better guys and for one-tenth of the money.”

Charles Rosa wants to waste no time, come 2023. He’d like to fight the returning champion Brendan Loughnane in the first round of the PFL season.

“Give me the paper champ in the first round of the million dollar tournament and his belt!”
